Anne Dushanko Dobek (USA) is an installations artist whose large scale works focus on issues of social justice and the environment. Her formal art education includes a Bachelors degree from Rowan University and a Masters Degree from Pratt institute. A lifelong interest in entomology and scientific practice have influenced Dushanko Dobek’s thematic choices of environmental issues as well as her conceptual rigor. The artist has taught at Fairleigh Dickenson University and is a frequent lecturer at museums and universities on issues related to art, social justice or the environment. She is a three time recipient of New Jersey Council for the Arts Fellowships, most recently in 2012 . Her work has also been supported by fellowships from Earthwatch. Puffin Foundation, and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. The latter has funded her in the arts as well as for her work as a volunteer research assistant with entomologists in Costa Rica. Dushanko Dobek has exhibited extensively in the United States and Europe including the Gulbenkian Foundation Brussels, Musee Cantonal des Beaux Arts in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, Chashama and the High Museum in Atlanta. Fellowships have allowed her to create some of her more ambitious outdoor installations including the decade long Parallel Migrations series. These works have become more immersive with the addition of sound and lighting which allow for both night and day views.
